At an elegant ceremony in Bahrain on November 25th, historic Geneva watchmaker Vacheron Constantin received "Best Tourbillon of the Year" for its Malte Tourbillon Regulator watch.  The accolade was given out as part of the 2008 Premier Middle East Watches, Jewellery & Pens Awards, which recognizes outstanding achievements in the world of luxury.  

The Vacheron Constantin Malte Tourbillon Regulator watch was introduced at the 2008 edition of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie.  Presented in 18K pink gold or platinum, this tonneau-shaped watch is remarkable both for its exceptional haute horlogerie movement and refined aesthetic finishing.  The latter is demonstrated by the silvered, 18K gold dial which displays no less than five different types of decorative techniques--snailing, guilloche, opaline, vertical satin-finishing, and circular satin finishing.  Movement in is the shaped Vacheron Constantin 1790R, a shaped caliber manufactured by Vacheron Constantin that features a one-minute tourbillon, a regulator hour display, and a power reserve indicator.  Due to its luxurious finishing and strict adherence to the twelve absolute criteria established in Geneva over a century ago, the Caliber 1790R bears the Geneva Seal.  

Vacheron Constantin's long history of achievement began in 1755.  Today, the company founded by Jean-Marc Vacheron and Francois Constantin bears the distinction of being the world's oldest watch manufacturer in continuous operation.  Over the span of over two hundred years, Vacheron Constantin has obtained many international awards, in addition to being cherished by Royal Houses, important members of society, and collectors of fine watchmaking.
